Per-process bandwidth limits can be applied from user space without changing router or firewall rules. This command-line shaper is useful for testing slow networks, keeping one program from saturating a link, or wrapping network-heavy tools.
Run `trickle` with the program and rate limits you want to enforce. It changes network behavior for the wrapped process, so test carefully with important transfers or latency-sensitive applications.
