Description
Lets many X11 applications run inside a Wayland desktop by providing an X server compatibility layer. It is important for desktops and apps that have moved to Wayland but still need older X clients to work.
Most users do not start it directly; the compositor or desktop session usually manages it. It improves compatibility, but it does not turn every X11 feature into a native Wayland feature or isolate applications as a security sandbox.
