Description
Connects sandboxed applications to GTK desktops such as Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce desktop services through xdg-desktop-portal, allowing controlled access to features such as file selection, screenshots, screen sharing, settings, and application launch behavior. It is useful when Flatpak or other sandboxed apps need desktop integration without unrestricted system access.
This is a portal backend, not a user-facing app. It affects permission prompts and desktop integration, so mismatched backends can break screen sharing, file dialogs, or other sandboxed-app workflows.
