Real-ESRGAN image upscaling can run through the NCNN/Vulkan backend used by Upscayl and compatible GUI tools. upscayl-ncnn is for users who need the local model files and command-line backend.
Check GPU driver compatibility and output quality before replacing originals. Backend upscalers can consume heavy GPU resources, fail on unsupported Vulkan stacks, invent image details, or expose private images through logs and file paths.
