Astronomical catalogues and tabular datasets can be inspected, joined, plotted, and transformed in a Java desktop tool. TOPCAT is used by researchers who work with FITS, VOTable, and other science table formats. It can open large local or remote datasets, so memory use, network sources, and unpublished research data need attention.
