Description

Boot-time file access can be preloaded with the old readahead mechanism that was once built into systemd. This is useful only for administrators testing whether preloading frequently used files improves startup on a specific system.

The service changes boot behavior and may provide little benefit on modern SSD-based machines. Users should measure startup before and after enabling it and keep a way to disable the service if boot becomes worse.
