Computes Damerau-Levenshtein edit distance quickly from Python. It helps fuzzy matching, typo detection, deduplication, search, and record-linkage tools compare text values that may include insertions, deletions, substitutions, or transpositions.
Similarity scores are heuristics. Review thresholds before using matches to merge records or make user-impacting decisions.
