JPEG 2000 and JP2 images can be decoded through a pylibjpeg plugin backed by OpenJPEG. Medical and imaging developers use pylibjpeg-openjpeg for DICOM pixel data, archives, and image-processing workflows. Image files may contain private or regulated data.
