Active chat sessions can be preserved across Pidgin restarts through a conversation restore plugin. This Pidgin/libpurple add-on is dependency-only and has no separate launcher; Pidgin or Finch loads it when installed and enabled. Chat plugins can expose message text, contacts, presence, notifications, or account metadata, so behavior should be reviewed before use with private or work accounts.
