Legacy PHP 8.1 applications can authenticate users and query directory records through LDAP. This runtime extension supports login systems, address books, admin panels, and enterprise integrations that depend on LDAP or Active Directory. It is dependency-only and has no separate launcher; PHP code calls LDAP functions when enabled and directory settings are configured. Bind credentials, TLS, search filters, group rules, and returned attributes need care because directory data often controls access to other systems.
