Description
Qt and KDE applications can use Phonon as a multimedia abstraction layer for playback and audio or video integration. This lets applications rely on a common API while backend packages handle the actual media engine.
It is a runtime library, not a player by itself. Users normally install it because KDE or Qt applications need multimedia support.
