Description
Perl applications can approximate Unicode text as plain US-ASCII characters. This is useful for slugs, search keys, legacy systems, and file names that cannot handle Unicode well.
It is a developer text library. Transliteration loses information and is not translation, so applications should keep the original text when accuracy matters.
