Description

C and XS extensions for Perl can interrupt Perl execution asynchronously when low-level code needs to signal an event. This is useful for advanced event loops, bindings, or performance-sensitive libraries that integrate native code with Perl.

It is a low-level developer component. Incorrect use can make programs harder to reason about, so it is mainly relevant to maintainers of Perl modules with native extensions.
