Duplicate messages in Maildir storage can be found and removed using Notmuch indexing. This helps email users reduce clutter and save space when duplicated mail has accumulated across folders or sync operations.
Use it carefully, because deduplication changes mail files. Keep a backup of the Maildir before running cleanup, especially when messages are important or synced with remote accounts.
