Description

Network devices can use a randomized MAC address before the main system starts. Administrators use this hook when early-boot networking should reduce device tracking or avoid exposing the hardware MAC.

It is an early-boot privacy hook, not a full network anonymity solution. Some networks reject unknown MAC addresses, so test access before depending on it.
