Description
Runs a server that stores Prometheus metrics for a long time and at larger scale than a small local monitoring setup. Teams use it to keep operational measurements such as CPU, memory, service latency, and application counters.
This is infrastructure software, not a desktop app. It should be configured by an administrator because it can receive telemetry over the network and may store sensitive operational information.
