Description

Keyboards, touchpads, and touch bars on newer MacBook Pro models can gain Linux support through a DKMS SPI driver. It is useful when built-in input devices are missing or incomplete with the default kernel drivers.

Kernel drivers affect low-level hardware behavior and may need rebuilding after kernel updates. Keep an external keyboard or recovery path available before changing input-device support.
