NVIDIA 580xx proprietary driver modules can be matched to the XanMod LTS kernel. It is useful for newer NVIDIA systems that need this branch for graphics, gaming, compute, or display support.
Driver branch consistency matters. Mixing NVIDIA branches or using modules for the wrong kernel can prevent the graphical session from starting.
