Desktop sessions can be locked with a lightweight session locker.
This Git package is useful for users who need screen locking in environments that depend on light-locker behavior. It does not replace full account security; it locks the active session when configured by the desktop or user.
A locker must work reliably before you depend on it. Test suspend, resume, multi-monitor, and authentication behavior.
