Internationalized domain-name support helps network software convert Unicode names into forms safe for DNS and protocol use. This older libidn line covers Stringprep, Punycode, and IDNA behavior expected by legacy applications.
This is a compatibility library, not a browser. Applications still need to guard against confusing look-alike domains and validate user-facing network destinations.
