Description
Packet I/O capture support gives intrusion-detection tools a common layer for receiving network traffic. Snort and related software can use it to connect packet sources to analysis engines.
This is a security and networking dependency, not a packet viewer by itself. Capturing traffic may require elevated permissions and can expose sensitive network data, so it should be used only on systems and links the user is allowed to inspect.
