Worker nodes get the official agent that runs pods and reports node state to the control plane. It is essential infrastructure for machines that are part of a Kubernetes cluster.
This is a system service, not a user app. Wrong configuration can break workloads, expose node credentials, or disconnect a node from the cluster.
