Kerberos credentials stay available for long-running jobs and AFS access through ticket acquisition and refresh. It is useful on university, research, and enterprise systems where services require Kerberos authentication over time.
This is a command-line authentication tool. It can keep access credentials alive longer than a manual login, so configure lifetimes and permissions according to the security policy of the environment.
