A KDE library for extracting metadata from files. File managers, search tools and indexers use it to read information such as titles, authors, dimensions, duration or tags.
It works as desktop infrastructure rather than a separate viewer. Metadata extraction may process many files, so performance and privacy depend on the applications using it.
