Hardware interrupt handling can be distributed across CPU cores to reduce uneven load on multiprocessor systems.
It is useful on servers, desktops, and network-heavy machines where one CPU core becomes overloaded by interrupts. Most users run it as a background daemon and only tune it for special latency or isolation needs.
