Description
Scientific data can be stored and exchanged through the HDF4 file format and its supporting library.
It is useful for legacy research data, Earth science products, numerical models, and tools that still depend on HDF4. New projects may prefer newer formats, but HDF4 remains important when reading older archives or interoperating with established scientific workflows.
