Applications that expect a SOCKS5 proxy can use an existing HTTP or HTTPS proxy through a small wrapper tool.
It is useful for testing network paths, development setups, or environments where software supports SOCKS5 but the available proxy is HTTP-based. Proxy use can expose traffic metadata and credentials to the proxy operator, so use only trusted endpoints.
