Sleeping computers on a local network can be powered on remotely by sending Wake-on-LAN magic packets from a GTK utility.
It is useful for administrators and home users who keep machines asleep but need to start them without physical access. The target computer, firmware, network card, and router or switch must support Wake on LAN, and the packet should be sent only on networks you control.
