Boots older systems through the legacy GRUB bootloader. It is mainly useful for compatibility with historical setups that still depend on GRUB Legacy rather than GRUB 2.
Legacy bootloaders can be risky on modern systems. Use only when the hardware and partition layout require it, and keep recovery media available before changing boot sectors or menu configuration.
