Description
Mono applications can use the legacy GNOME-VFS file access layer through C# bindings. It is useful only for maintaining older applications that were built before newer file and desktop APIs replaced GNOME-VFS.
GNOME-VFS is obsolete, so avoid it for new software. Legacy file APIs may behave poorly with modern sandboxing, remote mounts or security expectations.
