Legacy Mono applications can use GConf property editing classes for older GNOME configuration interfaces. It is useful when maintaining applications that still expose settings through this historical binding layer.
This is compatibility support for obsolete APIs. Avoid it in new software and keep it only for programs that explicitly depend on it.
