Description
Legacy GNOME-era applications can still find the obsolete GConf configuration system when they have not migrated to newer settings APIs. It preserves compatibility for old software rather than providing a modern configuration workflow.
New applications should not depend on it. Users normally install it only because an older program requires it, and removing it can break those legacy applications.
