Description
Highly compressed read-only filesystem images can be created and mounted for distributing large file trees efficiently. It is useful for software images, archives, containers, and read-mostly datasets.
Read-only filesystems are not a backup by themselves. Keep source data elsewhere and verify mount options, permissions, and decompression support before deployment.
