Description
Compact read-only filesystem images can be created and inspected for embedded systems, recovery images, or ROM-oriented workflows. It is useful when storage space is tight and files do not need to change after packaging.
Filesystem image tools can overwrite files or create images that fail to boot if configured incorrectly. Work on copies and test images before flashing or distributing them.
