Description
Runs as a monitor process for OCI containers, tracking container lifecycle, logs, exit status, and communication between the container runtime and management tools. It is commonly used by Podman and related container stacks.
Most users receive it automatically with container tooling. It is infrastructure for containers, not an application to launch directly for normal use.
