Description

Large sparse images can be copied faster by using block-map information to skip unused areas. It is useful for flashing images, embedded development, and deployment workflows that handle disk images.

Image writing can overwrite target devices and destroy data. Confirm the destination device every time and keep backups before copying to disks or removable media.
