Securely erases files or storage areas so deleted data is harder to recover from magnetic or solid-state media. It is useful for decommissioning devices, removing sensitive files, or preparing storage for handoff.
This is intentionally destructive. Confirm paths and devices before running it, keep backups of anything that must survive, and understand that SSD wear leveling may limit wipe guarantees.
